Access resources to support adult social care employers to recruit, develop and lead their workforce so that they have the right skills and knowledge to support people with a learning disability and/or autistic people who display or at risk of displaying behaviours that challenge.
Transforming care is all about improving health and care services so that more people with a learning disability and/or autistic people can live in the community, with the right support, and close to home. This means that fewer people will need to go into hospital for their care.
There’s a national plan about how to do this called ‘’ (October 2015), and there are 48 transforming care partnerships (TCPs) across England to support this.
We're working with Health Education England, Skills for Health, Transforming Care partners and other key stakeholders to support the ambitions of the .

Programme details:
Locally
We're supporting local TCPs. This means that we'll:
- contribute to locally driven transforming care activity, sharing our offer and key resources
- use our expertise and understanding of the adult social care workforce to review and shape local priorities and input into guidance and plans
- support sites in engaging with social care providers across the local and neighbouring area
- use our networks to promote the work of the transforming care programme.
- develop a suite of case studies to be shared across transforming care sites in order to share best practice.
Regionally
We're working with regional delivery groups to share our resources and shape local priorities with a particular focus on:
- making best use of workforce intelligence
- understanding our workforce capacity planning tool
- using the principles of workforce integration and workforce redesign.
Nationally
At a national level we'll share our expertise and knowledge of the adult social care workforce by contributing to the development of national guidance and tools as part of the workforce delivery programme.
Additional activity

Find your local team
