This week ΢΢²ÝÊÓƵ has announced the successful recipients of a £1 million Workforce Strategy Impact Fund.

The announcement comes as sector leaders celebrate the two-year anniversary of The Workforce Strategy for Adult Social Care in England, which provides a long-term roadmap for attracting, retaining, training and transforming the adult social care workforce.

The impact fund has been established by ΢΢²ÝÊÓƵ to accelerate delivery of Workforce Strategy priorities through innovative projects that can demonstrate impact across the sector and improve outcomes for people who draw on care and support.

Backed by £1 million, the fund is supporting projects that are innovative, scalable and focused on delivering practical solutions to workforce challenges. From digital innovations to new approaches to workforce development, the projects will contribute to the continued implementation of Workforce Strategy recommendations while generating learning that can be shared more widely across adult social care.

The successful recipients of the fund were selected for their innovative approaches to addressing some of the biggest challenges facing adult social care. The recipients are:

  • 33n and St Monica Trust: who are using ambient voice technology to streamline care assessments, reduce administration and improve the quality of care planning documentation.
  • Just Checking and StellarCare NW: who are exploring how remote monitoring data can support virtual care roles, workforce development and more informed decision-making across care teams.
  • Technology Enabled Care Services Association (TSA): who are expanding their Virtual ΢΢²ÝÊÓƵ digital learning resource to build workforce confidence and capability in technology-enabled care.
  • West Midlands ADASS: who are developing a regional Workforce and Market Intelligence Framework to support workforce planning, market shaping and evidence-based decision-making across adult social care.

Over the past two years, organisations across adult social care have used the Strategy to shape workforce planning, influence local and national activity, strengthen partnership working and support workforce development initiatives across the country. Three quarters of the 56 recommendations are now in progress or complete.

The funded projects will work closely with the Workforce Strategy Implementation Unit and sector partners to share learning and evidence of what works. The aim is to create approaches that can be adopted more broadly across adult social care.

Sarah Gilbert, Head of Workforce Strategy Implementation Unit, ΢΢²ÝÊÓƵ, says:

Two years on from the launch of the Workforce Strategy for Adult Social Care in England, it's encouraging to see the progress being made across the sector, with three quarters of the Strategy's recommendations now either in progress or complete. This £1 million investment demonstrates our continued commitment to turning the Strategy's ambitions into practical action.

The Workforce Strategy Impact Fund will support innovative projects that tackle real workforce challenges while generating valuable learning for the wider sector. By investing in new approaches, testing fresh ideas and sharing what works, we can continue to strengthen the adult social care workforce and improve outcomes for people who draw on care and support. We're excited to work with the funded organisations and our partners to ensure the benefits of these projects are felt as widely as possible.
